Southamerican Touring Car Championship
28 September 1999
La Plata was the place of the first victory of a private driver/car in the South American Touring Car Championship. La Plata was the eighth round of the Series and with Oscar Fineschi's win and the second place of brazilian driver Cacá Bueno, Bueno clinched the lead of the series with 103 points against 100 of his team mate, Emiliano Spataro. Fineschi drove the Chrysler Stratus from pole to the chequered flag without mistakes. "I must say I had advantage because of the weight of the car, a lot lighter than the factory cars, but I also have to say the setup suited well to this track and the team did a fantastic job" said Fineschi. Third place was for Oscar Larrauri, with the Alfa Romeo 156. Fourth place was Ingo Hoffmann, that is now just 3 points behind Spataro and 6 points behind Bueno in the Championship fight. Flávio Nonô Figueiredo drove his BMW 320i to finish 5th in this race and is currently lying 5th in the series. The next round will be at the beautiful Guaporé circuit, in South Brazil October 17th.
