Saab 9-5 Wagon Wins Design Award

5 October 1999

Saab 9-5 Wagon Wins Design Award
NORCROSS, Ga., Oct. 1 -- The Saab 9-5 Wagon has garnered
another award - this year's Excellent Swedish Design Prize. The award is
given by the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design, which promotes Swedish
styling and design, both nationally and internationally.
The jury awarded this year's Prize to the Saab 9-5 Wagon with the
following remarks: "Saab has succeeded in retaining its sporty and distinctive
design profile in this wagon model. The overall impression is excellent, and
the details are well thought out. The design of the driver's environment is
in the form of a control center, just like in an aircraft cockpit. The
functions and ergonomics have been awarded high marks. The stiff chassis and
suspension enhance the good aerodynamics and keep the car firmly on the road.
This Swedish product is simply the result of exemplary cooperation in the
development team. Saab's brand and design strategies are in good harmony."
Previously, the Saab 9-5 Wagon was selected as the "Top Car" for 1999 in
the $35,000 to $40,000 category by the American Automobile Association (AAA).
Other Saabs to win the Excellent Swedish Design Prize include the
1986 Saab 9000 and the 1984 Saab 900.
