Subaru and Saturn Prepare Concept Vehicles for Worldwide Debut At L.A. Auto ShowLOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 -- Subaru and Saturn are among the latest automakers presenting exciting new concept vehicles which will make their exclusive Worldwide debut at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. Already, more than a dozen concept and production vehicles will make their World debut, further accenting the California Dreamin' 2000 theme. The announcements will occur during the L.A. Auto Show's Media Days on Thursday, January 6 and Friday, January 7, 2000. Subaru will make international news by unveiling an entirely new concept vehicle. This marks the first time in more than a decade that Subaru has introduced a significant new concept vehicle in North America. "The concept vehicle is being built exclusively for the L.A. Auto Show and will showcase a new hybrid direction for Subaru," comments Hideki Ishido, vice president of product planning at Subaru of America. "This all-new vehicle, which is being built in the U.S. and complements the show's California Dreamin' theme, embraces both our hybrid utility and driving performance strategies, while simultaneously presenting new ideas in people and cargo packaging." The L.A. Auto Show is equally important to Saturn which will make dramatic news when it unveils a new concept vehicle for the first time in its 14-year history. Saturn Corporation Chairman and President Cynthia Trudell will oversee the introduction that foretells the automaker's future design direction. "The L.A. Auto Show and its California Dreamin' theme ideally fits with the type of vehicle that will receive its worldwide debut," says Trudell. "We are pleased to be breaking new ground for Saturn by introducing this exciting new vehicle in front of all our media friends at the first major auto show of the season." Joining Subaru and Saturn with significant Worldwide concept vehicle introductions are DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors and Volkswagen. These debuts will be augmented by additional automakers introducing their newest production vehicles. Many automakers are taking advantage of the show's California Dreamin' 2000 theme, which celebrates the global impact of California's influence on automobile design and development, and incorporating it into their vehicle designs and exhibit properties. An integral element of the theme will be a special multi-dimensional student exhibit celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Art Center College of Design, which has graduated some of today's leading automobile designers who are influencing tomorrow's transportation trends.
