Daewoo Leganza Rated in Top Three For Consumer Appeal by J.D. Power & AssociatesCOMPTON, Calif., Oct. 8 -- After only its first year of sales in the U.S., the Daewoo Leganza has proven that it stands out from competition. In the J.D. Power & Associates 1999 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, consumers placed Leganza among the top three in the Entry Midsize Category for having "the most things gone right" with their new vehicles. "To have gained such status in our first year is unbelievable," said D.J. Lee, president of Daewoo Motor America. "It shows we're on the right track with our innovative styling, our ride and handling and our attention to interior details." The APEAL Study is based on responses from nearly 88,000 new vehicle owners and measures what excites and delights owners with their new vehicles' features and design. Owners provide ratings on over 100 vehicle attributes in eight specific categories: vehicle styling; engine and powertrain; comfort and convenience; ride and handling; seats; heating, cooling and ventilation; cockpit and instrument panel; and sound system. "We knew we were building high quality products," continued Lee. "Now we know how highly customers think of our efforts." Daewoo Motor America sells the subcompact Lanos, the compact Nubira, and the mid-size luxury Leganza through a rapidly expanding network of more than 200 retail outlets in 42 states nationwide. The Korando, Daewoo's first sport utility vehicle, is anticipated to be available for sale in spring 2000, and will make its U.S. debut at the 2000 Los Angeles International Auto Show. Daewoo Motor America, Inc. is based in Compton, CA and is the U.S. subsidiary of Daewoo Motor headquartered in Seoul, Korea.
