Classic Stock Car Racing Era Captured in NASCAR(R) Legends From PapyrusNostalgic Racing Enthusiasts Can Team-Up to Compete Against Such NASCAR(R) Legends as Richard Petty, Bobby and Donnie Allison, Buddy Baker and Cale Yarborough WATERTOWN, Mass., Oct. 18 - Papyrus Design Group, the leading developer of auto racing simulations for the PC, today announced the availability of NASCAR(R) Legends, the sim that lets racing enthusiasts relive the excitement of the 1970 NASCAR(R) season. State-of-the-art technology takes nostalgic racing fans back in time to compete against such NASCAR(R) legends as Richard Petty, Bobby and Donnie Allison, Buddy Baker and Cale Yarborough to see, feel and hear the total driving experience exactly as the drivers did in the classic era of stock car racing. Papyrus developed NASCAR(R) Legends to provide an authentic recreation of the NASCAR(R) circuit just as it was in 1970. The game, which includes tracks from the NASCAR(R) Grand National Series, features the same billboards and unique engine sounds also reminiscent of this period in racing history. Similar to the technology featured in the recently released NASCAR(R) Racing 3 from Papyrus, NASCAR(R) Legends will include: -- New positional 3D audio, supporting A3D v 2.0 and DirectSound3D, allows players to hear the competition swarm around them as other drivers close in on the final laps. -- Dynamic new engine sounds that capture the roar of a 750 horsepower engine at full throttle. -- High-resolution graphics system, supporting 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 resolutions and 3Dfx and Direct3D hardware accelerators bring the action into crisp, vivid detail. -- New effects, such as shaded groove, specular highlighting and dynamic shadows and skids that dramatically enhance the racing experience. Translucent smoke effects will have drivers racing through big walls of smoke. -- Enhanced aggressive Artificial Intelligence that requires players to race harder and smarter to keep up with their competition. "Papyrus' goal is to develop games that throw racing enthusiasts into the heart of the NASCAR(R) experience," said Dave Matson, game developer, Papyrus. "By coupling the latest physics and graphics technologies with the NASCAR(R) reputation, we are able to re-create games that are so realistic, they come just short of actually putting a true NASCAR(R) fan behind the wheel of an actual stock car. Papyrus has chosen to take its fans back to the 1970 season with NASCAR(R) Legends, so they are able to apply the skill and feel the pressure as they compete against such greats as Richard Petty, Carl Yarborough, Bobby and Donny Allison and Buddy Baker." NASCAR(R) Legends will be available in early November for $49.95 at all major retail and computer stores.
