Ferrari's latest creation, the 360 Modena sports car, was introduced earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Show. Alcoa worked closely with Ferrari to develop the 360's high-performance body structure -- an aluminum spaceframe manufactured by Alcoa inside the fabled Scaglietti Works in Italy. Through the first half of the year, 670 frames were delivered, having passed through a meticulous, 530-point Ferrari analysis without a single rejection or missed delivery.
Alcoa in partnership with Audi created the world's first all-aluminum spaceframe for the Audi A8 and subsequently worked with Chrysler on the Plymouth Prowler. Alcoa is the global leader in aluminum technology for the automotive market, with nearly every European and U.S. automaker on its customer list. With the 360 Modena, Ferrari represents Alcoa's most holistic contribution to date.
