New Kysor MD9 Fan Offers Increased Cooling Capability For Medium Duty Trucks

DETROIT--Nov. 15, 1999--Borg-Warner Cooling Systems announces the new Kysor MD9, a polymer fan offering better efficiency and better performance to Class 5, Class 6, Class 7 and vocational vehicles.
The Kysor MD9 provides 5 degrees F more cooling at 5% higher efficiency than current and competitive products. The fan has a hubless design, with blade aerodynamics designed for medium duty cooling systems. These design features result in a reliable, easy-to-fit geometry, with improved cooling performance while incurring no weight gain.
The Kysor MD9 is designed to be stackable, with interlocking features that keep the fans locked together to minimize shipping damage. More fans can be shipped in a standard box, resulting in lower shipping costs. The fans also require less storage space in the production facility.
"The Kysor MD9 program is a project focused on cooling performance, durability and streamlined manufacturing," explained Jim Bailey, Global Product Manager of Borg-Warner Cooling Systems. "Fans are balanced during the molding process, and smaller fans are balanced using the center ring. This means the balanced fans are consistently sized to exact diameter."
One of the first applications for the Kysor MD9 is on the Navistar NGV. "Prototype samples of the Kysor MD9 fan have produced impressive gains in vehicle cooling performance, relative to fans currently applied to our vehicles and competitive fans available to us," said Robert Jones, Senior Project Engineer of Navistar International Transportation Corporation. "I am excited about the production availability of the Kysor MD9 fan and am eager to apply this product to our vehicles."
The Kysor MD9 is currently available by contacting Borg-Warner Cooling Systems OEM account managers, fleet managers and distributors. Customers can call 800/927-7811 to obtain the appropriate contact.
