First Sighting of a 2001 Pontiac Aztek, Made in Los AngelesLOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 -- Look out Bigfoot, and step aside Elvis, because reports have surfaced that the first sighting of a 2001 Pontiac Aztek, the world's first sport recreation vehicle, appeared today amidst exotic wildlife and 50 semi-finalists attempting to quality for CBS's highly anticipated summer show "Survivor." Stranded for 39 days on a deserted tropical island near Borneo with only the clothes on their backs, 16 contestants will battle for the opportunity to sleep in an Aztek for one night to escape the island's natural inhabitants, including insects, lizards, monkeys, and the world's most venomous snake. Ultimately, the sole remaining survivor will drive away in a brand-new Pontiac Aztek and win $1 million. Quite possibly the most versatile vehicle in the world, the 2001 Pontiac Aztek will mysteriously begin appearing in showrooms on the West Coast in June, followed by a national roll-out -- but until then, be on the lookout for more Aztek sightings. 13 one-hour episodes of "Survivor" will be broadcast on CBS in the summer of 2000.
