Ford Presents Latest Truck Trends at Philadelphia Auto ShowFord Begins 2000 as Philadelphia Region's Number One Nameplate, Truck Sales Leader PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 28 -- Ford Motor Company today presented the F-150 SuperCrew and the Explorer Sport Trac at the 2000 Philadelphia International Auto Show. The trucks are the newest additions to Ford's already strong truck-line-up, which have propelled Ford to become the sales leader in the Philadelphia region. Ford's Explorer Sport Trac represents the automaker's response to the growing trend of the pickup truck as the personal use vehicle. It is an Explorer with a pickup bed for hauling cargo. The F-150 SuperCrew is a pickup with four full doors and full rear seat. "We're anxious to get both vehicles in the Philadelphia area," said Larry Gregerson, Ford Regional Sales Manager. "Together they will help Ford dealers in this region maintain their sales leadership and build on last year's recording breaking year." Regionally, Gregerson said Ford trucks helped Philadelphia dealers close out the year with the number one selling vehicle -- the Ford F Series -- in the Philadelphia region. "Ford has the distinction of being the number one truck name plate in North America as well as in the Philadelphia region, out registering our nearest competitor by over 20,000 units," Gregerson said. In the Philadelphia region, Ford achieved the following sales records for 1999: Trucks * Truck sales exceeded 65,000 units for the 4th consecutive year. * Econoline sales were up 4.3% over 1998 - The best year since 1995 * Ranger sales were up 6.9% over 1998 - The best year since 1994 * Windstar sales were up 17% - An All Time Sales Record! Best Selling Vehicles * F-Series was the top selling vehicle in the region with sale of 19,722 * Ford Explorer was the region's second highest selling vehicle with sales of 15,269 * Ford Windstar was the region's third highest selling vehicle with sales of 10,305 Car Registrations (November YTD - Retail) * Ford was the #1 car nameplate in the Philadelphia Region. * Mustang was the 1# nameplate in the Small Specialty Segment. * ZX2 was the #2 nameplate in the Small Specialty Segment.
