Hyundai Motor America Debuts First SUV, the Santa Fe At 2000 U.S. Comedy Arts FestivalHMA Supports Comedy Arts Festival for 2nd Year in a Row As Part of Ongoing Sponsorship FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 8 -- Hyundai Motor America will preview the Santa Fe, their new addition to the SUV market, at the Sixth Annual Comedy Arts Festival held in Aspen, Colo., February 9-12, 2000. This will mark the Santa Fe's first consumer appearance outside of the Detroit and Los Angeles Auto Shows in January. "The Santa Fe received such high marks from both the media and consumers at the L.A. and Detroit shows that we felt it was time to showcase its many features to a wider consumer audience," said Robert Dutcheshen, HMA merchandising and promotions manager, "There couldn't be a more appropriate stage than the Comedy Arts Festival to debut Santa Fe's fun, adventurous style which mixes perfect with our core demographic." For the second year in a row, Hyundai will be the exclusive vehicle sponsor of the Comedy Arts Festival. In addition to previewing the Santa Fe with an onsite car display and information booth, the company will be sponsoring all comedic performances held at the Hotel Jerome. Hyundai also will be hosting a raffle where guests can register to win one of four portable DVD players. The Comedy Arts Festival is the premier comedy event in the country and, like Sundance, Cannes and the Academy Awards, is a major Hollywood event for entertainment executives and high profile talent. This year, comedic great Robin Williams will be awarded the coveted AFI Star Award, which recognizes individuals whose work represents excellence in film and television. Past recipients of the AFI Star Award include Jerry Springer, Monty Python, Albert Brooks and Steve Martin.
