Four 2000 BMW Models Recognized for Best Overall Value by IntellichoiceCHICAGO, Feb. 9 -- BMW has captured four IntelliChoice Best Overall Value of the Year (BOVY) awards, with the 2000 323i sedan and the 2000 Z3 roadster 2.3 topping "The Best Overall Value of the Year" in their respective categories. The category award winners are: -- "The Best Overall Value of the Year" - "Near Luxury" category winner BMW 323i Sedan -- "The Best Overall Value of the Year" - "Base Sport" category winner BMW Z3 roadster 2.3 The BMW 528i was recognized again as a Best Overall Value in the "Luxury" category. The BMW M roadster repeated as a Best Overall Value in the "Sport" category. This is the second year that the new 323i was awarded Best Overall Value in the "Near Luxury" category. "BMW has enjoyed tremendous success over the last several years. This is due in no small part to our ongoing efforts to offer BMW owners the best possible value over the long term," said Tom Purves, Chairman and CEO of BMW (US) Holding Corp., "which is why we are so grateful for this acknowledgment by IntelliChoice." To determine BOVY winners, IntelliChoice analysts examined the projected five-year ownership costs of vehicles from 2000, specifically looking at depreciation, maintenance, repairs, insurance, fuel, financing and state fees. The 2000 winners represent the best relationship between ownership costs and purchase price, and therefore, are considered best overall values for consumers. BMW has been working to ensure that value, along with quality and performance, are intrinsic to the BMW ownership experience. All 2000 model BMW's include Full Maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles* as standard, except the 750iL which continues to offer it for four years or 50,000 miles*. This plan includes all maintenance items indicated for the coverage period. Technology enhancements such as BMW's Service Interval Indicator allows for extended service intervals. Rather than using fixed intervals, the Service Interval indicator monitors how the car is driven to calculate a range of up to 15,000 miles between oil services. Lifetime transmission fluid and 100,000 mile spark plugs also reduce operating costs on every BMW. BMW has been successful in increasing value by adding more comfort and safety features while holding down prices. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), BMW's electronic stability enhancement system, is now standard on all but two 2000 models. At $27,560, the 2000 323i sedan price is $590 higher than 1999 but includes more than $1,300 worth of additional standard features such as Full Maintenance, DSC, Automatic Air Recirculation, alloy wheels and a full-size spare tire.
