Nissan Announces 2000 Sentra Pricing- All-New Compact Sedan Reduced $150 - $740 Over Previous Model - GARDENA, Calif., Feb. 24 -- Nissan North America, Inc. today announced pricing on its all-new 2000 Sentra compact sedan, which goes on sale February 25, 2000. Overall, the 2000 Sentra is $559 less than the 1999 model on a base weighted average comparison. The new Sentra starts at just $11,649 - $150 less than the 1999 Sentra it replaces. The popularly equipped 2000 Sentra GXE with Convenience Package is $740 less than last year's GXE with a Limited Edition Package. Complete pricing and trim levels are available on the attached sheet. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000107/LAF056-b ) The 2000 Sentra, designed at Nissan Design International, Inc. in La Jolla, CA, is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor and rides on an all-new platform. The interior features a level of appointments not typically seen in cars at this price point, including an 8-way adjustable driver's seat. The new Sentra also offers a larger standard 1.8-liter engine with 126 horsepower, up from the previous model's 1.6-liter 115 horsepower base engine. The volume trim level, Sentra GXE, offers a long list of standard equipment, including power windows, power door locks and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, and a 100-watt AM/FM/CD audio system. The GXE Convenience Package, which is expected to account for around 80 percent of GXE sales, adds a remote keyless entry with trunk release, 60/40 rear seat, valet key, cargo net, and a rear auxiliary power outlet for only $150. A GXE Luxury Package is also available, which adds items such as 15-inch alloy wheels, vehicle immobilizer and security system, and a 180-watt 7-speaker audio system. The sophisticated Sentra SE model includes a 145-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, 15-inch alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, fog lights, titanium gauges, a front strut tower brace, and stiffer suspension. The SE Performance Package adds a rear spoiler, side sill extensions, 16-inch alloy wheels, sport tuned suspension and a viscous limited-slip differential. The Sentra CA (Clean Air), the cleanest gasoline-powered vehicle in the world, retails at $14,799. Sentra CA will only be available in California.
