Honda and Harley-Davidson/Buell join sponsors for Women & Motorcycling National Conference

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The AMA Women & Motorcycling National Conference has 
gained a new corporate sponsor, Harley-Davidson/Buell, for the July 13-16 
conference in Athens, Ohio.

Signing on as a Platinum Sponsor, Harley-Davidson/Buell has pledged the 
highest level of support. Harley-Davidson's Marketing Director Tom Watson, 
says this conference is a reflection of the continued importance of women 
in motorcycling. 

"Harley-Davidson has been around since 1903," said Watson. "As evidenced 
by our archives, women have been a part of motorcycling since the 
beginning. And many women have broken records on Harley motorcycles. We're 
proud to acknowledge their achievements."

Karen Davidson, creative director of general merchandise at the 
Harley-Davidson Motor Company, will be the keynote speaker during the 
Women & Motorcycling National Conference. She will discuss her role at the 
company and what it was like growing up in the motorcycle business.

Harley-Davidson/Buell also will be offering a fleet of demo motorcycles 
for test rides, along with Yamaha, BMW, Kawasaki and Honda.

The Women & Motorcycling National Conference is a four-day meeting of 
motorcycling enthusiasts, industry leaders, and experts in the 
wide-ranging issues related to women and motorcycling. Held at Ohio 
University in Athens, Ohio, the conference will see presentations on 
topics ranging from motorcycle mechanics, to travel tips and women's gear, 
along with insight from women racers and riders, plus women working in the 
motorcycle industry.

Honda has also signed on as a Platinum Sponsor, the highest level of support. 
Honda's Roxanne Hoerning, manager of market information and technology, 
says she was inspired  as a motorcyclist when she attended the first Women 
& Motorcycling National Conference in 1997. "I was surprised at the impact 
the first conference had and the passion of the participants," said 
Hoerning. "I wanted to make sure Honda had a good presence at the next 
one."
