Paying $2 a Gallon for Gas At the Pump This July 4th? Might as Well Enjoy the Ride With Survive the Drive!

HAVERTOWN, Pa. - The July 4th holiday weekend traditionally kicks-off the busiest family vacation season of the year - but this year, as gasoline prices creep steadily upward, more and more parents are dreading the annual drive to the beach house, mountain cabin, family reunion or resort.

Fear not, says Survive the Drive founders (and parents of four young children) Liz and David Walsh. While they can't control the cost of gas, they can make the trip much more bearable through the rental or purchase of a special TV/VCR unit made for cars, SUVs and vans. And the rental price -- $99 for a ten-day "week" and $49 for a four-day weekend - is a bargain compared to the price families can pay for a long, boring, stressed-out car ride.

"It would kill me to stand at gas pumps on vacation and watch tank-after-tank add up, knowing my family was miserable during the entire drive. That's no way to relax on vacation," said Mrs. Walsh. "Yet airfare for a family is very expensive, and there are usually car rental costs, too, so it still makes financial sense to drive. Having that TV/VCR and some pre-planned activities can make all the difference. In fact, we are leaving on a trip to Florida next week with the kids, and I can assure you we will have a unit in our van!"

In addition to TV/VCR units, the company offers dozens of products to occupy backseat passengers. There are arts and crafts kits, handheld electronic games and Nintendo units, audio books and CDs (including Harry Potter), travel board games and an array of Klutz products, including Body Crayons, Pipe Cleaners Gone Crazy and Mini-Etch-A-Sketch sets, to name a few.
