Carfax Launches New & Improved Carfaxonline.com

8 August 2000

Redesigned Subscriber Website Will Better Serve Car Dealers

FAIRFAX, Va. - Carfax, Inc., the Internet's leading provider of vehicle
history information, announced they will launch a new version of their
commercial subscriber website, Carfaxonline.com. The new version will go live
on Tuesday, August 8th at 9:00 AM (EDT/8:00 AM CDT). Carfaxonline.com is an
interactive website that serves more than 12,000 commercial dealers of used
cars that use the service to avoid buying or selling cars with hidden problems.

"The website has been revamped based on feedback received from our
commercial subscribers," says Kathy Zarket, vice president of sales for Carfax
Inc. The updated version will also sport the look of Carfax's consumer
website, Carfax.com. "We've streamlined the content and design for ease of
use and made the look and feel more consistent with the Carfax.com site,"
explains Zarket. "The core functionality of the site remains very much the
same so dealers don't need to worry about relearning the interactive
components."

Carfax, Inc. is the leading provider of comprehensive vehicle history
information service on the Internet providing buyers and sellers of used
vehicles with valuable information about problems that may be hidden in a
vehicle's past. Using the 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
found on the car, Carfax can generate a detailed history report or
computerized background check on virtually any registered used vehicles in
seconds.

Car dealers, who regularly check more than 10,000 vehicles a day through
Carfaxonline.com, can utilize the vehicle history reports to make smarter
trade-in deals, to protect themselves and their customers from potentially
dangerous or costly cars, and as a sales tool demonstrating their honest
desire to put their customers in safe, reliable vehicles.

The Carfax database contains over 1.3 billion vehicle records on cars and
light trucks, dating back to 1981. The data comes from numerous dependable
sources, including motor vehicle departments, emissions-inspection stations
and auto auctions. Founded in 1984, Carfax, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary
of the Southfield, Michigan, based R.L. Polk Companies.
