AAA Offers Free Roadside Assistance at X Games via Bicycles

17 August 2000

While X Gamers Jump Cars, AAA Yellow Service Bikes Are `Jumping Cars'

SAN FRANCISCO - AAA is keeping things rolling at the X-Games, August 17-22 by offering free AAA Emergency Road Service to stranded spectators at the event.

In the spirit of the X Games, AAA is deploying service technicians on specially outfitted yellow bicycles to patrol the area in search of lockouts, dead batteries, and flat tires.

The bikes come equipped with jump start battery packs and tool kits and have been helping stranded motorists at Pacific Bell Park during home games at no charge.

To encourage commute alternatives during the X Games, a special AAA commute alternative map is available at www.csaa.com/travel/tools/xgames.asp

AAA encourages spectators to walk, bike or use public transportation to get to the games, as auto parking will be very limited. The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will have valet bike parking for bike riders at the event.

Established nearly 100 years ago, AAA offers a wide array of automotive, travel, insurance and financial services. The California State Automobile Association serves nearly 4 million members and is the second largest regional affiliate of the national AAA organization.
