Disneyland Autopia Comes to the World Wide Web

Chevron Uses Online Version of the Popular Car Ride as Branding 'Vehicle'

SAN FRANCISCO - ISL Consulting has brought the fun and adventure of the Autopia Attraction at Disneyland(R) Park presented by Chevron, to the fingertips of children worldwide with an online version of the Chevron-sponsored ride. In designing and developing the interactive site - located at www.chevroncars.com - ISL Consulting successfully extended the power of Chevron's well-established brand by creating an online community that provides both entertainment to visitors and marketing opportunities for the company.

"Making a strong connection with consumers has always been a priority for Chevron, and the growing prevalence of the Internet gives us an opportunity to extend our reach," said Steve Woodhead, Brand Manager, Chevron Cars. "ISL understood how to translate our brand to an online environment; a skill that has made the firm a valuable ebusiness partner for Chevron. The foresight and expertise the ISL team brings to strategic projects like Autopia has been fundamental to the success of the site."

Working closely with Chevron and Disney, ISL Consulting brought Autopia to life online by styling the site after the actual attraction. Visitors to Autopia online find the same distinctive cars and roadways, visual puns, unexpected road hazards and humorous billboards. ISL Consulting also created new features to enhance Chevron's brand awareness. Road Rally, for example, is an engaging scavenger hunt that takes visitors on missions through the different areas of the Chevron Cars site to find clues. The company developed nine original missions that use a variety of interactive techniques to deliver an attention-grabbing user experience. Once visitors find all the clues, they arrive at the simulated Autopia.

"Road Rally is the lynchpin of our strategy for online Autopia, as it provides an unobtrusive way to have visitors learn about all that Chevron Cars has to offer and encourage them to spend more time at the site," said Kevin Thomas, President of ISL Consulting. "At the same time, because the site is designed for children, compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) was critical. Being well-versed in the Act's guidelines and restrictions, we were able to work with Chevron in developing a solution that meets all the requirements without sacrificing either Chevron's marketing goals or a fun user experience."

Children and their families can drive Autopia online by visiting www.chevroncars.com.
