The Favorite Cars of Comparison Shoppers: September 2000 PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 18 InvoiceDealers, The Leader in
Automotive Comparison Shopping, released the favorite cars, trucks, SUVs and
minivans of online comparison shoppers in September 2000.
About the Study
The Comparison Shopping Popularity Index(SM) calculates each vehicle's
popularity using a proprietary weighted formula. The study results are derived
from online selections made by car shoppers who view, compare, and choose from
instant competing price quotes on the InvoiceDealers system.
September Results
The Honda Accord led all cars for the fourth straight month since
dethroning the Chrysler PT Cruiser in June. The Volkswagen Passat returned to
the top ten at ninth, and the Toyota Camry Solara debuted at tenth.
The Ford F-Series extended its dominance of the truck category to seven
consecutive periods. The Toyota Tundra broke into the top three for the first
time.
Hot on the heels of the seven-time SUV leader (the Ford Explorer) was a
newcomer: the 2001 Ford Escape. SUV shoppers requested it immediately upon
its debut on the InvoiceDealers comparison-shopping engine in September.
In the minivan category, the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna traded places
for the second consecutive month, with the Odyssey coming out on top in
September.
