1935 Alfa Romeo Tipo C 8C 3800 Ex Scuderia Ferrari for Sale At the 30th Anniversary Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction 2001

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Nov. 2, 2000--Barrett-Jackson is proud to announce the early consignment for the January 2001 auction of a very rare 1935 Alfa Romeo Tipo C 8C 3800 Ex Scuderia Ferrari, Chassis No. 55014, Engine No. 50014, built by the Alfa Romeo factory and run in competition via Scuderia Ferrari, who prepared and ran the official Alfa Romeo Factory teams.
Only six of these cars were built, and were piloted by some of the most notable drivers -- Tazio Nuvolari, Giuseppi Farina, Counts Brivio and Trossi, Carlo Pintacuda and Louis Chiron. Designed to take on the might of the Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union Grand Prix teams, the stunning streamlined cars scored a number of victories in the premier European events and was a great source of national pride.
This particular car was sold to a wealthy Argentinean, Carlos Arzani, who embarked upon an ambitious career taking numerous victories and successful placings.
Later in its life the car was on long-term display at the Juan Manual Fangio Museum in Balcarce, Argentina, before being returned to Italy where it underwent a total, correct and well-documented restoration.
Of all the great pre-war racecars, the Alfa Romeo 8C is as competitive and reliable as any. Not only is this car extremely desirable, but it also has the ability to humble many of the great post-war sports cars.
Thirty years of classic car auction history on Jan. 17-21, 2001 as Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge presents the 30th Annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction and Exposition. The tradition continues with four days of exciting non-stop live auction bidding, more than 800 collector cars and the unveiling of many new features and exquisite events, all a part of this benchmark anniversary
