DaimlerChrysler Corporation Gives the Michigan Metro Girl Scouts An Early Holiday Gift
President and CEO Dieter Zetsche Presents a Check for $150,000

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 20 DaimlerChrysler Corporation
President and CEO Dieter Zetsche was in keeping with the holiday spirit at the
Company's annual Media Holiday Party Tuesday night when he presented an early
holiday gift of $150,000 to the Michigan Metro Girls Scouts Council (MMGSC).
The money will be used to help further the mission of the Girl Scouts and
provide greater opportunities for young women in the Metro Detroit area.
"DaimlerChrysler has a tradition of helping groups or causes in need and
this year, the Michigan Metro Girl Scouts was a logical recipient for our
assistance," said Zetsche. "Such contributions represent a way for us to
demonstrate our commitment to the communities in which we operate and
organizations like the Girl Scouts, which helps develop the individual
potential of thousands of young women."
DaimlerChrysler has been supporting the efforts of the MMGSC since 1993.
MMGSC is the fourth largest Council in the United States and currently serves
over 38,500 girls in the Metro Detroit area.
"This significant and very generous gift is one of the largest single
donations from a corporation in MMGSC's history," says Marci Shannon, Deputy
Executive Director of Resource Development and Public Relations after
receiving the check from Zetsche. "We thank the Board of Directors of the
DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund and the management of DaimlerChrysler for
their unprecedented support of our organization at this time."
Since it was established in 1953, the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund has
given more than $300 million to charitable organizations. In 2000, the Fund
will give nearly $31 million to charity.
