4 January 2001

Toyota Camry is America's Best-Selling Passenger Car For the Fourth Consecutive Year
TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 3 Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A.,
Inc., announced today that Camry was the nation's best-selling passenger car
for the fourth year in a row.
Camry enjoyed impressive December sales of 36,811 units, an increase of
27.5 percent over the same period last year. For calendar-year 2000, Camry
sales totaled 422,961 units.
Nineteen years of production through four generations have established
Camry as an industry benchmark for quality, dependability and reliability.
Consumers can choose between four-cylinder or V6 engines, with either
automatic or manual transmissions, to suit their individual needs. Every
model has an extensive list of standard features and most have Extra Value
Packages that offer savings on popular available options.
The Camry sedans and Solara coupes equipped with the 2.2-liter
four-cylinder engine were the first Toyota vehicles to receive Ultra Low
Emission Vehicle (ULEV) EPA certification.
Camrys equipped with the V6 engine also are certified as Low Emission
Vehicles (LEV) by the EPA.
Most of the Camrys sold in the U.S. are built at the award-winning Toyota
Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) plant, in Georgetown, Ky.
