Toyota Camry is America's Best-Selling Passenger Car For the Fourth Consecutive YearTORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 3 Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., announced today that Camry was the nation's best-selling passenger car for the fourth year in a row. Camry enjoyed impressive December sales of 36,811 units, an increase of 27.5 percent over the same period last year. For calendar-year 2000, Camry sales totaled 422,961 units. Nineteen years of production through four generations have established Camry as an industry benchmark for quality, dependability and reliability. Consumers can choose between four-cylinder or V6 engines, with either automatic or manual transmissions, to suit their individual needs. Every model has an extensive list of standard features and most have Extra Value Packages that offer savings on popular available options. The Camry sedans and Solara coupes equipped with the 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine were the first Toyota vehicles to receive Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) EPA certification. Camrys equipped with the V6 engine also are certified as Low Emission Vehicles (LEV) by the EPA. Most of the Camrys sold in the U.S. are built at the award-winning Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) plant, in Georgetown, Ky.
