I have a 1972 International Scout that I am in the process of repairing. I am also in the process of purchasing a 1980 304 International Scout. I am wondering if the transmissions will interchange between the two. If you are able to tell me more about any interchangeability between these two vehicles it would be greatly appreciated.

If the 72 had a V8 the transmissions are totally interchangable. Not all 4 speeds in Scouts had the same gear ratios and if the 72 had a 4 or 6 cylinder engine, I would need that information. I've got a business that I sell parts to that sells only IH parts and services. Let me know if you need anything more.
