The last long competitive stage of the rally (620km), made up of alternate fast tracks and bush-roads, peculiar to Guinea. The second half takes place in Senegal on fast laterite tracks.


The day's difficulty : the fords!

TODAY
MOTORCYCLES: Italian KTM rider Fabrizio Meoni scored his third stage victory followed home by fellow italian Edi Orioli, the Yamaha rider now almost certain of joining Peterhansel on four Dakar victories. In third place Spainard Carlos Sotelo followed by Davide Trolli.

Britain's Ian Graham and Nick Morgan both came through the test and should celebrate a double victory tomorrow when they become the first British bikers to reach Dakar.

CARS/TRUCKS: Ari Vatanen's efforts to wrest third place from Mitsubishi's Fontenay were rewarded with a stage victory for the Finnish Citroen driver today. Citroen filled the next three places on today's stage, Salvador Servia leading home Wambergue and Lartigue.

Jean Louis Schlesser finished seventh today to remain in the top ten in his two wheel drive buggy, Thierry Delavergne keeps his lead in the Nissan in the T2 class and Jean Pierre Strugo in the Mitsubishi inT1.

Tomorrow we'll take time to speak about the American Hummer's, who participated in their first Dakar Rally and who we hope to see arrive tomorrow at the beach of the Lac Rose.
