Dakar 97
January 4-19, 1997

The itinerary is magnificent, with varied scenery. The tracks are sandy at times, fast at others.

This Dakar is long (9700 km) and adapted to the changes in the technical regulations. The distance and the heat (the race takes place entirely in Africa) will be two added difficulties.

Dakar 97 involves some 300 competitors and nine official teams and a route that goes through new and mythical regions (Timbuktu, Agades, Nema)
