The accent is on the Accent at Hyundai this year. The Korean automaker's smallest offering has new styling. The sporty Tiburon coupe made its debut last year, and the midsized Sonata sedan was also extensively redesigned at that time.
Accent
The smallest Hyundai has new front and rear styling for 1998. The Accent is available in 3-door hatchback and 4-door sedan body styles. The hatchback is offered in three trim levels, and has new front and rear bumper fascias, taillights, bodyside molding, and wheel covers. The sedan also has a new hood, headlights, and rear decklid.
Power in all Accent models is from a low-maintenance 1.5- liter, 92-horsepower 4-cylinder engine, matched with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
Tiburon
The stylish, affordable Tiburon sports coupe is offered in two trim levels. Both now use Hyundai's 2.0-liter, 140-horsepower "Beta" 4-cylinder engine, and a fully-independent suspension designed for sporty handling. The top-of-the-line Tiburon FX sports alloy wheels, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and special trim.
Sonata
The midsized Sonata sedan offers unique, distinctive styling and a high degree of standard equipment. Power is from a 137- horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder or 142-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine. V6-powered Sonatas feature an electronically-controlled 4-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shifting logic.
Elantra
The Elantra is designed to give value and performance in a small, economical package. Its 130-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine and fully independent suspension give the Elantra peppy performance and sporty handling.
