Chevrolet Trucks and Cars For 2000 |

When the latest Silverado full-size pickup debuted last year, Chevy SUV fans eagerly awaited the next generation of full-size SUVs. The new Tahoe and Suburban are now here, and the Silverado has important additions to its line as well.
Suburban and Tahoe
Suburban is the longest-running nameplate in automotive history, dating back to 1935. It's Chevrolet's biggest sport-utility, with interior space and towing power galore. The Tahoe is the shorter-wheelbase full-size four-door Chevy SUV. It strikes a convenient mean between all-out size and urban maneuverability. Both are built on the Chevy full-size pickup platform. The Silverado pickup was all-new last year, and the 2000 Suburban and Tahoe inherit its vastly-improved chassis and drive train. The more rigid chassis and redesigned suspension give improved ride and handling characteristics and lower interior noise levels. Improved versions of Chevy's "Vortec" V8 engines provide power, in 4.8- and 5.3-liter form for the Tahoe and 5.3- and 6.0-liter sizes for the Suburban. Two- and four-wheel drive models are offered. All come standard with four-wheel disc brakes.
Silverado
Chevy's full-size Silverado pickup was all-new last year, but it's not resting on its laurels. Four-door extended-cab models are now available, and the "Vortec" 4.8- and 5.3-liter V8 engines have more power. Light-duty 1500 and medium-duty 2500 models are offered, with the usual plethora of equipment choices. Buyers can choose two- or four-wheel drive, engines from a 4.3-liter V6 to a 6.0-liter V8, regular or extended cab (with three or four doors), cargo bed lengths and styles, and various trim levels and option packages.
Venture
What's up, doc? There's a new Warner Brothers special edition of the Venture minivan with that wascally wabbit on the side. All Ventures are now four-door models, and are available in two lengths.
C/K
The previous-generation C (two-wheel drive) and K (4x4) pickups continue for 2000, with 28 different models available. They cater to the heavy-duty end of the pickup market, with regular, extended, and crew cab models, with 5.7- and 7.4-liter gasoline V8s and a 6.5-liter turbo diesel.
Blazer
Chevy's compact Blazer SUV is available in two- and four-door body styles. There are minor trim and equipment revisions for 2000.
S-10
The S-10 compact pickup gets a new base-level extended-cab model and a number of mechanical enhancements.
Tracker
The Tracker, Chevy's smallest SUV, has new color choices.
Astro
The mid-size Astro van has a variety of interior, exterior, and mechanical enhancements.
Chevy Express
The Chevy Express full-size van has an available rear defogger.
