Hyundai For 2000

By Carey Russ

Hyundai specializes in affordable cars. Its smallest, the Accent, has been completely revised this year. The Tiburon sport coupe has new styling and other upgrades. Every 2000 Hyundai comes with the "Hyundai Advantage" warranty, offering limited bumper-to-bumper coverage for five years or 60,000 miles, 24-hour roadside assistance for five years, and ten-year, 100,000-mile power train coverage.

Accent

The newest version of the subcompact Accent is slightly larger than the old model, and completely restyled. The chassis structure is more rigid for improved ride and handling, and the doors use double seals for reduced wind noise. The exterior styling is edgy and contemporary, with a European look. The roomier interior has been redesigned for greater comfort. A 92-hp, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine power both the three-door hatchback GS and four-door GL sedan, with a choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions.

Tiburon

The Tiburon sporty coupe has new styling, with four projector-beam headlamps and a new hood in front and new taillights in back. Inside, the seats have been upgraded and the instrument panel has been restyled. Last year's premium FX model has been discontinued, but many of its features can be found in the single new model, which is priced the same as last year's base model. A 2.0-liter, 140-hp twin-cam four-cylinder engine provides energetic power, with a choice of five- speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions.

Sonata

All-new last year, Hyundai's flagship Sonata sedan has minor revisions this year.

Elantra

The Elantra line of sedans and wagons has been condensed to a single, better-equipped trim level.
