Infiniti

Infiniti For 2000

By Carey Russ

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Infiniti has a special edition of its flagship Q45 luxury sedan. The second-generation of the mid-luxury I30 sedan debuts as well. And the sporty G20 sedan has significant changes.

I30

Little about the 2000 Infiniti I30 is unchanged. All of its body panels are new. Its new styling is much more distinctive. The wheelbase is longer, for more interior space. The redesigned interior takes maximum advantage of that, with all of the expected luxury amenities and the signature Infiniti analog clock. The 3.0-liter twin-cam V6 has been significantly revised, and now has 227 horsepower, an increase of 37. While the suspension has the same basic design as before, it has been dialed in for improved ride and handling. As before, both regular and sportier "Touring" models are offered.

Q45

A special Anniversary Edition of the Q45, Infiniti's premium luxury sedan, is available. It has unique features and equipment, including genuine wood trim, special badging, and machine-finished 17-inch alloy wheels. Other Q45 models are largely unchanged from last year, although a navigation system will soon be available.

G20

The sporty G20 was new last year, but that hasn't stopped Infiniti from adding five more horsepower to its engine, for a total of 145. Both the five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions have been revised, and an engine immobilizer system is now standard equipment. There are a number of useful interior enhancements as well.

QX4

The QX4 sport-utility was revised in the middle of the 1999 model year, and carrys over for 2000. But changes are coming.
