Jaguar For 2000 |

Jaguar's sports car range has a significant power boost, as the supercharged XKR joins the XK8. The XK8 models have important new features, as do the XJ sedans. The 2000 S-Type, introduced last Spring, continues with enhancements as well.
XKR
Although external differences between the new XKR and the regular XK8 coupe and convertible are subtle, the performance difference is not. The XKR has the 370-hp supercharged version of Jaguar's AJ-V8 engine, also found in the XJR sedan. That's an additional 80 horsepower over the unsupercharged engine, in a car that weighs significantly less than the XJR sedan. The XKR is the quickest- accelerating car in the Jaguar line.
As with the XK8 upon which it is based, the XKR is available in coupe or convertible body styles. The XKR leaves the XK8's gorgeous styling alone, but adds a wire-mesh grille, functional hood louvers, and a small rear spoiler. Wheels and tires are upgraded to 18 inches. Jaguar's "Computer Active Technology Suspension" -- CATS - - is standard equipment for refined comfort and sports-car handling. But don't think of the XKR as a mere sports car. It's every inch a luxury Jaguar, with a well-appointed interior featuring Connolly leather and burled walnut in the manner that Jaguar does best. The only option available is a navigation system.
XK8
The XK8 coupe and convertible have evolutionary changes for the new year. All-speed traction control, larger front brake discs, rain- sensing windshield wipers, and new color choices are some of the standard features. A navigation system is available.
XJ Sedans
New interior and exterior color choices, all-speed traction control, rain-sensing wipers, and an optional navigation system highlight the 2000 XJ sedans.
S-Type
A completely-new car introduced last May, the 2000 S-Type sedan combines a contemporary chassis with styling evocative of the Mark II S-Type of the 1960s. New color choices have been introduced partway through its first model year.
