Kia For 2000

By Carey Russ

Kia makes the Sephia compact sedan and the Sportage line of small sport-utilities. Value is the company's strategy, and the Sephia has more standard equipment this year. The Sportage mini-SUVs also have increased equipment levels.

Sephia

Kia's Sephia sedan is small in size and price, and has been one of the best sellers in its class. For the new year, many features formerly optional on the base-level model are now standard. Even more standard equipment has been added to the LS. Both offer greater interior space than most competitors, and are powered by a 125-hp, 1.8-liter engine.

Sportage

The Sportage SUV line offers both two- and four-door models. Unlike many of the other vehicles in their class, they are true sport-utility vehicles with rugged body-on-frame construction, not just re-package cars. They are roomy for their size, and, with a standard 130-hp 2.0- liter engine and available four-wheel drive, they can have true off-road capability. Four-door hardtop and two-door convertible body styles are offered. Both have upgraded interiors for model year 2000.
