Porsche For 2000 |

The Boxster line grows for 2000 with the addition of the Boxster S and upgrades to the standard model. The current 911 was new last year, and enters its second year with more power and new features.
Boxster
The mid-engined Boxster's basic horizontally-opposed ("boxer") engine has been enlarged from 2.5 liters to 2.7 liters. That, and other internal enhancements, results in a power increase of 16 horsepower to 217. New gear ratios improve performance even more. New trim and materials can be found in the interior. And Porschephiles who wanted more from a Boxster now can have the Boxster S. It features a 3.2- liter, 250-hp boxer engine, and the six-speed manual or five-speed "Tiptronic" manually-shiftable automatic transmission and larger, cross-drilled brakes from the 911. Larger wheels and tires are also part of the package. Of course, the S has the same interior upgrades as the regular Boxster, and extra luxury features as well.
911
The latest generation of the 911 debuted last year. This year, a new exhaust system helps boost power from 296 to an even 300 horsepower. An electronic throttle system first used in the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 is used in rear-wheel drive Carrera models as well, and so the "Porsche Stability Management" stability control system standard on the Carrera 4 is available on the regular models, too. Both the Carrera and Carrera 4 are available in coupe and cabriolet body styles. Cabrios come standard with an aluminum hardtop in addition to the power-operated soft top. The 911 models have interior enhancements similar to those of the Boxster this year.
