Buick

Buick For 2001

By Carey Russ

There are special editions of all 2001 models from Buick available. New safety and convenience features are found on the midsize Regal, flagship Park Avenue Ultra, and full-size LeSabre. Expect major changes in late Spring, 2001, with the introduction of the Rendezvous, Buick's first sport-utility vehicle.

Rendezvous
Buick hasn't made a truck since 1923. As the entry-luxury division of General Motors, Buick competes in a market segment that has an increasing number of sport-utility vehicles, so it gets its own SUV with the debut of the Rendezvous this Spring.

The Rendezvous is a truck in technical category only. It's built on a car-like unit-construction platform, with fully-independent suspension for the smooth, quiet ride Buick customers expect, and features a well-appointed, versatile interior and room for up to seven people.

Regal
The limited-production Regal Olympic Edition commemorates Buick's support for the U.S. Olympic Team. It offers special equipment and appearance, and is available on both the Regal and Regal GS models. It was inspired by fashion designer Joseph Abboud, and further Abboud-styled Regals are planned.

Park Avenue
A limited-production version of the biggest Buick, the Park Avenue Ultra, is planned for mid-2001. Optionally available on it, and all other Park Avenue models, is a new ultrasonic parking assistance system.

LeSabre
The LeSabre has been the best-selling full-size sedan in the U.S. for the past eight years. Completely redesigned for the 2000 model year, it has dual-stage deployment air bags and a number of minor trim and equipment revisions for 2001.

Century
Buick celebrated the year 2000 with a "Century 2000" Century last year, and it proved so popular that a similar version of the most popular Buick is available again this year.
