Hyundai For 2001 |

Like many other Asian manufacturers, Hyundai started out building small, entry-level cars. But it has ambitions, as shown by its 2001 lineup. The new XG300 sedan is the largest, most luxurious Hyundai ever sold in the U.S., and the Santa Fe gives Hyundai a presence in the sport-utility field. A new generation of the compact Elantra also debuts. The mid-size Sonata gets new safety and luxury features. The little Accent, new last year, has a new, more powerful engine, while the sporty Tiburon has freshened styling.
XG300
Hyundai luxury sedan? Meet the all-new company flagship XG300. It will compete in the near-luxury segment. It's a four-door, five-passenger sedan that is larger than Hyundai's Sonata. Standard equipment includes a 192-hp, 3.0-liter V6 engine and a five-speed automatic transmission with "Shiftronic" manual shifting, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, a fully-independent suspension, power locks and mirrors, and a six-speaker audio system.
Santa Fe
The new Santa Fe is designed to combine the comfort and handling of a car with the style and versatility of a sport-utility. It features a unit-construction chassis with fully-independent suspension and a choice of 149-hp four-cylinder or 181-hp V6 engines. The basic Santa Fe is front-wheel drive, and a full-time four-wheel drive system is available.
Elantra
Even though its newer vehicles are more upscale, Hyundai hasn't forgotten its roots. The third-generation Elantra is more stylish, larger, and roomier than the car it replaces, and is very well-equipped. All 2001 Elantras have air conditioning, power locks, mirrors, and windows, and dual front and front side air bags
Accent
The two top trim levels of the latest Accent get a twin-cam 1.6-liter engine with 105 horsepower, replacing the 92-hp 1.5-liter engine still used in the base level.
