Car of the Week August 28, 2000

2000 Audi S4 2000 Audi S4 -- On the outside, the S4 looks almost identical to its sibling the A4 -- small S4 badges on the front and back, larger air intake openings, and a lowered sports suspension are the only differences. On the inside, the S4 is also very similar to the A4, except, at no extra cost, the buyer can opt for the suede Sport interior. Of course, understated S4 nomenclature is tastefully displayed on the aluminum door trim and steering wheel. Now, under the hood, the differences between the S4 and A4 are impressively obvious. Powering the S4 is a 2.7-liter, 250 horsepower, V6 DOHC bi-turbo engine with direct ignition, electronic turbo boost regulation and ME 7.0 Motronic with electronic throttle control. A six-speed manual with sychnonized reverse gear or a 5-speed automatic with Tiptronic, DSP, and hill detection are two of the most exciting transmissions choices available on the market today. 2000 Audi S4
