Chevrolet Cars and Trucks For 2000 |

Chevy's newest cars have been on the road since last summer. The Impala nameplate is a Chevy classic, and graces an all-new sedan. The latest Monte Carlo is the coupe version, and has its own distinctive look. Other Chevrolet cars have evolutionary changes this year.
Impala
Impala is the best-selling nameplate in Chevrolet history. It's back for the new millennium, and denotes a completely new sedan. The latest Impala is built on a stretched version of the GM mid-size platform, and is a front-wheel drive car with a choice of 3400 or 3800 V6 engines. It's slightly larger than other GM mid-size cars, and has a roomy, convenient, and well-equipped interior that seems to be designed for people who all but live in their car. The styling has some classic Impala cues, but is unique and contemporary. The base Impala is available with a front bench seat for six-passenger capacity, while the Impala LS comes only with front buckets for a five-seat configuration.
Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo is the nameplate on Chevy's NASCAR racers. Some of the spirit of the racers can be found in every new Monte Carlo. It has little other than the name in common with last year's Monte Carlo, as it is built on the same platform as the new Impala. With the same choice of 3400 or 3800 V6 engines, and the same fully-independent suspension, and its own unique styling and interior, the new Monte Carlo combines personal comfort with performance. "Classy with a wild streak" is how Chevy puts it.
Prizm
The small Prizm sedan, built at NUMMI in Fremont, has a new engine with variable valve timing for increased power and lower emissions. It's offered in two trim levels, and both now have higher standard equipment levels.
Malibu
Chevy's small mid-size Malibu has freshened styling and an improved version of the 3100 V6 engine with an additional 20 horsepower.
Corvette
The fifth-generation Corvette lineup was completed last year when the performance-oriented Hardtop joined the coupe and convertible, so 2000 is a year of fine-tuning. Its 5.7-liter V8 now meets Low Emissions Vehicle standards, with no casualties among the 345 horses under the hood.
Cavalier
The Cavalier has a new look outside thanks to body-colored bumper fascias on all models. The interior has been redesigned as well.
Camaro
The sporty Camaro coupes and convertibles have only minor changes.
Metro
The smallest Chevy, the Metro, has new color choices.
Lumina
Although its spot in the Chevy lineup has been taken over by the Impala, the Lumina soldiers on .
